Christ's Armies [NSFW]

Caution? With the Lord on our side? What kind of a show of faith is that? Do you fear these devils so much that you forget what it is we're fighting for?
While the holy monastery is raped before our very eyes, you fucking squabble about tactics? We are the Lord's soldiers, his right hand...
...Gabriel's sword itself could not be more suffused with his love!
Such a lack of faith is troubling...and dangerous!
I should be surprised if the Lord himself did not twist your very form into that of the enemy, to be cut down by our own swords!
For all we know this could be the start of the last days, Armageddon itself with us as vanguard for Christ's armies.
So show a little fucking spine, you stupid old man!

by Brian Wood and Dean Ormston

This guy, this guy speaking right here, has a ton of faith. Unfortunately, it's a corrupted and twisted faith. It's a faith in a warrior Christ that will bring him to bloody victory on the battlefield. It's a misguided faith that is all too common in Christian history.

In a way, it's incredible how human nature can twist things for its own selfish interests. We have managed to take the words and teaching of one of the great pacifists in all of history and wage war and commit atrocities in his name.

Christ had some choice words about how we should engage our "enemies" in this world. I already talked about this some in relation to Northlanders. I don't think I necessarily need to retread that here, but I will say that faith in God, as a Christian, is good. Faith in God that he will help you kill all your enemies, though, is not.

And what about Armageddon? What if it truly was the End Times? Well, it wasn't. Every generation thinks that they are living in the last days. This generation is no different. There are tons of conspiracies and "prophecies" out there interpreting current political affairs as signs of the end times. Things are so horrible that surely Christ must be coming soon!

He very well could be. But it is just as likely that he won't. But people still try to pinpoint a date. And people still believe and become prepared for the world to end on that date. And inevitably nothing happens on that day.

But then someone else, or even the exact same person, will pick another day and the whole nonsense starts over again.

If World War II, the Holocaust, and use of nuclear weapons on two cities were not signs the apocalypse was imminent, what makes you think the happenings of today are certainly such signs? "Wars and rumors of war" have been a staple of human civilization for as long as we have recorded our history.

Again, I think there are much better ways for Christians to spend their time than attacking the other, those who are different from us, and concocting conspiracy theories about the end of the world. And this is coming from a guy who has spent plenty of time in his life doing both.

Go read comic books instead. It will be a better use of your time. And it will be far more rewarding.

I mean, there's a strong possibility that Sandman Overture #3 will release before the apocalypse.

Right?

Okay, so maybe there's only a slight chance. But I can still hope!
