Religion. Science. Politics. Our relationships. Our identities. They're all stories.
Stories that hold our place in the world. Hell, that become our world.
- The Unwritten #45
by Mike Carey and Peter Gross
What's your story?
Is it a good story? A happy story? A sad story? A story filled with triumph and overcoming the odds? Or a story about how life shafted you and you're struggling to survive the hand you've been dealt. Maybe it's a story that includes all of the above.
If we strive to process our world into narratives, how much more so do we construct our own lives into stories? We're born, we live, we die. Relationships have a beginning, high points, low points, and all too often a miserable end. Our very lives are creating stories.
Think about movies based on historical events. Often they are billed as being based on a true story. What you do in life is a story. These events and occurrences are strung together in a (hopefully) coherent narrative. Sometimes we decide such a narrative can pass for entertainment.
I hope my life is a good story.
I hope my life is based on a true story.
